Casuarina Community

“Developing creative young people with a passion for life-long learning,
an understanding of the unique contribution they can make to the world
and a holistic sense of care for the environment and people.”
Casuarina Steiner School’s vision statement

Parents & Friends

The passion and commitment of parents is vital in building a sense of community. In a culture of ‘busy’ where parents feel increasingly isolated from family and friends and overwhelmed by ‘to dos’, the P&F offers a space to connect and enjoy the company of others who have chosen this village to raise our children.

At Casuarina, our P&F’s mission is to:

  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative parent community
  • Increase understanding of Rudolf Steiner’s philosophies
  • Raise funds to enhance the school and the grounds
  • Undertake collaborative community projects and events
  • Create a platform for strong and positive parent engagement in the school and
  • Promote the benefits of education at Casuarina Steiner school to the wider community

In the past, money raised by the P&F has funded many improvements in the school including breezeway renovations and playground equipment. P&F events are a great opportunity to come together socially.

Casuarina P&F meets regularly and children are welcome to attend with parents. If you would like to phone in from home we can also organise a group call via Messenger, Facetime or Zoom, just let the Office know in advance.

The P&F aims to fund and organise four educational events each year to enrich understanding of Steiner principles; and four social events each year to foster a strong and supportive parent community across all years.

Contact us if you’d like more information about how to get involved.

Craft Group

Everybody is warmly invited to join the Casuarina Craft Group, which hand makes beautiful toys and gifts in order to raise money to support the school – particularly the Craft curriculum.

The group does a wide variety of crafts including sewing, felting, beading, candle making, tie-dyeing and doll making. No craft experience is necessary.

The group meets on Thursdays from 9am in Lavender Cottage. Drop in and enjoy a very social way to contribute to Casuarina. For more information, email coordinator Helen O’Callaghan at woolfordfamilyhome@gmail.com.

Volunteer

Volunteering in the school offers an opportunity to model to our children the many benefits of giving back to the community, including providing a deep sense of connection, meaning and purpose.

There are many ways you can contribute to Casuarina, including through our festivals, P&F and other regular events, activities and fundraisers.

Please get in touch if you’d like to volunteer some of your time and expertise to help make Casuarina an even better place.

Visit us and you will begin to see what makes Casuarina Steiner School different from all other schools. You will start to see and feel all the reasons to choose a Steiner education when you meet our talented and dedicated teachers, talk to our active and involved parent community, and meet our wonderful students. We can’t wait to welcome you!
